I have not raced R/C in ten years, I bought a SC10 kit and want to run mod class at your track. I know nothing about brushless systems. Any suggestions to what motor, speed control, batterys, spur and pinion i should use?
I used to use all Novac stuff in the past, Use to run at E-Town mostly Gas and then Mod truck so I wasnt sitting around all day.

Thanks,Rick

Do you want to keep the price down or get all the best?

Great esc with an ok motor. Great to start with    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXWH7&P=ML   or   http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXWH6&P=ML    Join Towers super save club and get like $30 or so off and free shipping....

Batteries --- any 2s lipo with about 30c and 5000+ mah... Personally wouldnt waste time on nimh

Pinion and gearing I would check rctech for that. Not sure about the AE stuff.

Give a price range and I can make some suggestions

Id like to buy a novak setup, not worried about the price but I dont want to waste money. I have read about having a sensored motor and a cooling fan on the ESC. Novaks were always simple to set up. What are most of you guys running in SC trucks? I was looking at the HAVOC 3S/BALLISTIC 8.5 BRUSHLESS SYSTEM. Thanks for the help and keep the info comming!

If you want the best performance, Go with either Tekin or Castle creations. Their Motors are much more efficient than novak motors, and the software on the speed controller's are smoother and smarter..

Ex. If your sensor wire on a novak system comes out of the speed controller, you can torch the esc. With a Tekin rs, the ESC automatically switches to sensorless mode on the fly, preventing damage to either component.

If you dont mind having a sensorless system, Castle Creations is the best way to go, Mamba max esc's can be found A dime a dozen.

If I were in your position i would pick up a Mamba Max Pro Sensored ESC, and a Tekin sensored motor...

Castle's C.H.E.A.T software is the best and smoothest in the buisness.
Castle’s High Energy Advanced Timing allows your to set a motor timing boost to get that extra oomph when you need it, I have seen people gain 8mph just by adding boost in the software.

To summarize- novak should stick to pan cars, if you want high quality and high efficiency (more power, less heat) go with  Tekin or castle.

The Tekin is a great set-up. A little pricier when compared to the Castle stuff. One thing to note about the Tekin is it requires a lot more soldering so make sure you do your homework and are comfortable with your skills. Also get yourself a good iron.

Batteries are going to be based on how much you want to spend and how long you want to wait. Let me know ...

Radio you need a 2.4ghz system. Don't waste your time with anything else.

Everything you need, nothing you don't http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWYX8&P=ML
Bottom of the line but will get it done  http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXZJ4&P=ML
Everything you need, nothing you don't but Futaba http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXXRL8&P=7

Need a servo too? Deans connectors... 60/40 solder etc etc

Radio is a must, as for lipos you cant go wrong with Hobbyking.com

Their line of Turnigy packs are the best value.

Everyone that runs large scale electrics run these, they are great.

and if you want to be a bit safer

http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking.....d-Case_Car_Lipo_Pack

I run these in my losi 8ight and they dont break a sweat..

73Cuda2 -- That servo is actually a decent servo and there are some distributers in the U.S if you don't end up ordering from China.

Now just so you know those Lipos Ben told you about are on backorder as is the servo. This is part of the reason I asked how long you want to wait. The other part is that once they ship (about $40) you may have the stuff in four days (I got lucky) or it can get held up in customs and you will be waiting closer to a month. If one of the Lipos/parts is bad than you eat it as it costs more to send it back. If you do go that route, at that price, I would buy a few spares in case. You will use them!

Ds1015 is a good servo, run it in my buggy.. Cant go wrong with too much servo power.. Just make sure your endpoints are set correctly
