So according to their website Family Hobbies in Vineland will be open first again this year, Saturday April 4th. Last year was like a mini Motorama it was so jammed. I'm planning on going and getting their early to stake my claim to a parking space and pit spot.
If you've never been they run a really tight program and they have an awesome track surface...hard packed clay. Bring out the Holeshots and Sevens and make sure to bring at least 2 sets LOL. The track is on the smaller side and will put a hurtin' on tires but it's fun and the people I met were nice. Oh and they have lights so as long as you're willing to stay all day and into the night, you'll get the bang for your buck. $15 for first class, $10 thereafter, registration begins at 10am, you can practice after you register til 11:30am then they close practice for a drivers meeting and noon start time.
Ooops it is the 3rd, thanks for fixin' my mixup...
Given how crowded it's gonna be and how rusty I'm gonna be I'm shooting for arrival by 8:30 am. That'll give me a little leeway in case I'm running late and still have enough time to setup my work area and get everything together. I want to be on the track by 10:05 .....I'll be in line w/ transponder #'s (remembered in my head, LOL!) and $25 in hand w/ my radio and buggy fueled and ready!
I can't wait, hopefully a bunch of us from 70 can go.....
I wish i could have my track ready but with the snow and the new clay ....but i will be their and a few of 70 people too.....I can't wait to race santo's see u their.......
Good track. Always have a fast technical layout. Tire wear is worse than say trax 70. If you drive to the surface they do last a lot longer as opposed to sliding and spinning through everything.
There's talk of closing registration if too many people come, they don't want to have another "hobby rut" where you pay and don't get to play. Also the start time has been moved up, registration and practice starts at 8:30 am racing at 10 or 10:30....
George represented.....made the Amain in truggy, don't know how he finished up as my Dmain placement had me packed up and on the way home. Jmoney made the C in truggy, JohnB got the bump up from the E to the D in truggy and finished 6 secs ahead of me in 3rd place. Good run John.....enjoy it, savor it, it'll never happen again, LOL! Gene....well he drives a D8T
Please, please, please let our track surface be like Family's. JConcepts Sevens in blue were like glue on the track with virtually no wear and I've got another brand new set waiting in the wings. If we've got the same clay, these are the tires.....PERIOD!
I tried to represent, till my motor mount and center diff decided it wanted a divorce from the rest of the chassis......... .......... Did 12 laps hanging in the middle, it was quite the experience. 49 laps was the fastest for the 20 min main, FRED PERKINS really represented 5th in truggy Amain, and qualified 5th. NICE JOB FRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone's gotta do it for the TRAX.
Specail thanx to GENE and LUCHO for hanging with me until 11pm to be my pit as I was the only electric in the NITRO main. I thought the battery dumped only to find the best pit crew swapping me out in record time, only to find out my drivetrain decided that the race was over. It was a blast and great experience.
Did pathetic in the buggy, practice, practice, practice.
